Dr. Linda's Tips For A Healthy New Year

The new year can be a time to set new goals and also a time let go of things and leave them in the past. Have you ever done a Burning Ceremony? A burning ceremony is a transformative ritual traditionally performed on New Year's Eve or other meaningful holidays/dates. It's used as a way to release the past, negativity, or pain. This year my women's group did something similar. We wrote down what we wanted to let go from the past; put all of those in a paper bag and burned them in a fireplace. We also wrote down what we want more of for the coming year. This is a great way to leave what you want in the past and move forward with the New Year.

As a reminder from your loving healer, everything is better if you're feeling good!! Are you overwhelmed by everything you need to do to heal and stay healthy? Instead of trying to do it all, pick one or two actions to focus on and you'll be pleasantly surprised with the wins you receive day to day. Here are some suggested healthy changes! To feel better in the new year and get healthy protein at every meal. I'm an omnivore and recommend Butcher Box for the best quality meats, poultry and sometimes fish. Exercise is of course essential. I'm using Coach Tyler as my exercise muse. He's very encouraging and mixes it up. You don't need to go to a gym and you don't need any equipment. As Nike is famous for saying, "Just do it!" Sleep is underestimated for keeping you sharp during the day and rejuvenating at night. One of my heroes is Dr. Marty Rossman. Check out his guided imagery sleep program for a deep and nourishing night of rest. And finally... Holidays are stressful for all of the good and bad that happens in this busy season. One of my nutritional mentors calls it the Evil Trifecta. First we start with too much sugar with Halloween. Then it progresses to Thanksgiving with overdoing everything. And then comes Christmas with all of its burdens. All of this takes an incredible toll on our overall health and well-being. I've put together some recommendations for Stress Repair Nutrients to help combat the effects that stress has on our minds and bodies and give you a boost into a glorious 2019!
